Ching-Yu's interdisciplinary research focuses on investigative interviewing vulnerable witnesses and suspects, including intermediaries, in cases of rape and sexual assault. She has undertaken research and collaborated with colleagues from academic institutions and governmental and civil society organisations across the globe; including the UK, Taiwan, the USA, Canada, Israel, China, the Netherlands, and Romania.
She has contributed to the Taiwanese national evidence-based reform on investigative interviewing of vulnerable witnesses as a subject expert and acted as an advisor for improving evidence gathering and procedural justice in the Taiwanese Coalition Against Violence for more than 10 years.
She has been involved in several international projects such as the UN Anti-Torture Initiative on The Principles for Effective Interviewing, the white paper on interviewing vulnerable witnesses by the European Association for Psychology and Law and participated in the UK Parliament Research briefing on Age Assessment of Asylum-seeking children.
Ching-Yu is currently leading the research project on evaluating Vulnerable Witness Interview Practice, commissioned by the Judicial Yuan in Taiwan.
